1932 39.6% voted for 4 more Hoover, the coup attenpt by DuPont et al, 1936, the resistance to stopping Hitler right up through Pearl Harbor - until Hiltler declared war on the US 4 days later. 1944 even.

(31,173 posts)Only family member (in the 30s & 40s) out of about 10 to do so. Everyone else were stanch Dems. The arguments over the weekly family dinners every Friday could be fierce, according to my mother. Wish I could go back in time to hear them.
My other grandfather liked FDR.
