(Brief article)

Schumer says Senate to vote on Biden plan despite Manchin objections
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/schumer-says-senate-vote-biden-plan-despite-manchin-objections-2021-12-20/

WASHINGTON, Dec 20 (Reuters) -
The U.S. Senate will move ahead with a vote on President Joe Biden's Build Back Better plan early next year despite opposition from a key Democratic senator, and will also take up voting rights legislation, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said on Monday.
***********

This is they only way to do it.
Call the vote, on BBB, move the ball forward on Voter Rights. Proceed Sen Schumer.
Put them all on record & move forward. This isn't over till Democrats say it's over & this isn't the 1st or worst battle in history our Democrats have faced.
I can hear Ted Kennedy's booming voice on the same Senate floor, calling out name by name & grinding the opposition to a humiliating lump shrinking back in their Senate seat, as he relentlessly advocated for good, for the people of this country.

This is why the Democratic Party stands solid today.
You're either with us in the advocacy of our constituents, people who seek a better existance, or you are against us.

The Democratic Party lives by the basic tenats that define them, that is, Liberty, Equality, Justice

"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die"
~ ted kennedy

And forward they go, to continue the job we sent these fighters to DC to do.
------

Sen Schumer has already covered this part of his Maj Leadership job.
Maybe a better assist would be to call for unity behind Sen Schumer's decisions.

Thanks.

Sanders: And I think, either we bring the bill to the floor, Mr. Manchin chooses to vote against it, he will have to tell the people of West Virginia and this country why he is supporting all of the powerful special interests in this country, the drug companies, the insurance companies, the fossil fuel industry, the very wealthy who do not want to pay anything more in federal taxes. He`s got to explain that.

But you have to bring that bill to the floor. And if it goes down, we can decide what the next step is. But we cannot keep just talking and talking. We've got to do something, bring that bill to the floor.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gosh, early that morning, Rachel had already published portions of Leader Schumer's "dear colleagues" letter telling the caucus that he was bringing BBB to the floor for a vote in January.

Then Representative Jayapal came on after Senator Sanders and made it clear that a two track plan was already in the works for BBB, including passing the bill in the Senate, which of course necessitates a vote.

President Biden, Leader Schumer, and Representative Jayapal had all (individually) either met with or spoke to Senator Machin that day.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jayapal: They`re hard and we can`t give up and we won`t give up and that`s why we will pursue a two-track strategy now to both push for the Build Back Better legislation to pass the Senate and we are also calling on the president to take some significant executive actions that will make people`s lives better today and that will also put pressure on continuing to get legislation through instead of doing it through executive action.

So, we`ll have a two-track process here. We`re not giving up but it`s a hard day. I`ll be honest.

I was bummed that they didn't make Senator Sanders' interview available last night since it was a good one. They must be short staffed since it was finally uploaded today. And I try to post Rachel Maddow's videos since she's always just excellent.
