Steve Bannon Says He Plans To Take Over America's 'Election Apparatus' - Farron Balanced

Trump ally Steve Bannon hasn't given up on overturning the results of the 2020 election, and he said on his podcast this week that his followers would continue to fight and that they would be taking over America's "election apparatus." This is a plan that Bannon has been working on for a long time, and he's seen moderate success so far. Farron Cousins explains what this would mean for America.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans died to create this nation (Revolutionary War), fight for its right to exist (War of 1812), preserve its unified existence (Civil War), act to preserve our way of life (WWI, WWII), and establish its position as leader of the free world (Cold War). Despite our political differences there was always the common belief that we are a nation of laws governed by the people. The boundaries that kept citizens from exercising the franchise to vote have always been reduced, so more and more people can take part in determining the kind of nation we are.

All of these involved the spilling of American blood to preserve our way of life, our continued progressive growth as a society. Now we're engaged in a new kind of combat, a civil war where our elected leaders -- supported by nearly half the citizenry -- have decided they don't like our nation the way it is. They want to turn back the clock until the moment before the last state ratified the Constitution and declare it had been stolen, and want a re-do to write it the way they know it should have been done.

My grandfather served in the Army in WWI, my Dad was a bomber pilot in WWII. I spent 17 years of my life as an Air Force navigator during the Cold War. We did not serve to live the world of Steve Bannon and Donald Trump.

The Constitution was written by intelligent men of principle. What Trump and his enablers in the Republican Party are creating is as far from as possible from their ideals.

Can you imagine Ben Franklin, when asked what kind of government we would have, replying, "An oligarchy ruled by an autocratic sociopath"?

I don't want to see Donald Trump's face on a hundred dollar bill.
