House panel asks Supreme Court for fast resolution on Trump request (CNN)

Hours after Former President Donald Trump requested that the Supreme Court block the release of documents from his White House to the House committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot, the House committee asked the justices to expedite their consideration of the request, with a proposed schedule that would allow the court to say by the middle of next month whether it was taking up the case.

How much more time can the SC take before coming to an actual decision on the merits of this case? Can Congress put any pressure there? Otherwise, it just becomes more of the "run out the clock" strategy that the R's seem to be so good at.

Hopefully they will instead refuse to take the case and let the appeals court judgment stand.
