(206,013 posts)Not only was it a nightmare for this volunteer poll worker and her daughter, but what are we going to do going forward if the only election workers willing to come forward are those who are planning to cheat??
And thanks for the suggestions!

(24,605 posts)My county is very small and very red so they are not going to bother us, but the counties that have large Black populations are going to be hit hard. I only pray the lawsuits are successful and Schumer can find a way to pass the voting rights bill.

(206,013 posts)The latest is that they're running TFG-backed former football player Herschel Walker to run against the eloquent Raphael Warnock - who apparently doesn't eve know who John Lewis was! Rachel Maddow talked about this last week. And of course TFG is also interfering in the governor's race! And it's been said that if the two Republican gubernatorial candidates cancel each other out, Stacey Abrams could claim the victory she should have had the last time! I'm sure that you know all this, but I can't help thinking how pleased Jimmy Carter would be to not only have a Democrat in the governor's office - but a black woman at that. Since he was stuck with Lester Maddox as his Lieutenant Governor!

(24,605 posts)so he will get a lot of support just as TFG did. I can't believe we would turn against Warnock, but then...
When I voted for Stacey Abrams last time, I started crying at the polling place. It was so emotional to be in GA voting for a Black woman for Gov. She won then and she can do it again absent the republican theft.

(206,013 posts)I'm in New York, but I'm rooting for both Stacey Abrams And Raphael Warnock! We'd be lucky here to have such amazing candidates! And I've been a huge fan of Jimmy Carter since I was first able to vote. I knew nothing about politics, but I just really liked him. My brother picked on me at the time since initially no one took him all that seriously. And not only have I never changed my mind about him, but I now have his autobiography (on audio, read by the author, which I've listened to a hundred times in my car) and he is more impressive and I agree with him more than even I ever knew!

(24,605 posts)and I have enjoyed them, especially the biographical ones. I consider him one of the greatest presidents and certainly the greatest ex president. We would be much further along on meeting climate change if he had a second term.

(206,013 posts)He could do anything, from building his own furniture to making the federal government more efficient! And he absolutely kept track of everything that was going on, from how everyone in Congress stood on the votes he needed, to setting aside a record amount of protected land, to persuading the North Koreans (on behalf of the Clinton administration) to work with us on a nuclear treaty! He is definitely underappreciated and underrated!
You'll likely be proven correct, AFTER all the appeals, and AFTER the 2024 election is over, and AFTER American democracy is GONE.
