Donald Trump has spent the entire pandemic downplaying the severity of the virus and pushing bogus treatments that have not shown to have an impact. He has also refused to step up when asked to help convince Americans to get vaccinated on multiple occasions. But now that he's suddenly changed his tune, he's stuck with a fan base that is angry and confused. But as Dr. Fauci pointed out, this is what happens when you "poison the well," and now Trump has to deal with the consequences. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

(7,432 posts)He's got problems with his base and his intent is to bond with them again, vaccinations or not. He's also getting hit in the face with the J6 Committee's plans to televise hearings, and he's also having to counter the dominant narrative on the insurrection: that he organized it and managed it and then covered up the enabling by his subordinates. The Dems will be all over this before Trumpy-Boy has his presser. There's a lot of anger out there, and much of it is aimed at Trump. He's making a big error, but no one's stopping him.
