Some will claim they always knew that but how anyone thinks this will be a war with that fact is ridiculous. Iraq had no chance with the superiority of the U.S. air force, and neither did Germany once the Allies gained air superiority.

Rural country with an unstable government and plenty of places to conduct a guerrilla campaign, while Ukraine is an industrialized European state. Could Ukraine conduct an insurgency? Yes. War, no. As to your question, I'm surprised you don't know how to use Google. I'm sure it would have the answer.

the Ukraine might be loss, but they can conduct a long term insurgency that will bleed Russia. That is what Afghanistan did to the USSR and later to us.

Ukraine, I suspect will bleed Russia - Ukraine is a big country.

But that has nothing to do with my point about war and an air force. Ukraine has no chance in a traditional war without an air force, even to just slow down the advances. They can't mass troops, as the Iraqis found out. I doubt this will last as long as a week.

I don't know where this is going. I hope Biden's sanctions have an impact but Putin may be a dictator for life. I once took a class from a well-known Russian journalist who showed films of what happened in Russia when the USSR broke apart. People there were demonstrating in hopes of an American intervention in order to create a democracy. That was never going to happen and eventually Putin solidified his power. It's always been a country ruled by autocrats and corruption is part of its national fabric. I don't know how that can be remedied.

And, from Putin’s speech, he does not plan to stop with Ukraine. My opinion, …. He wants the former Soviet Empire back - and him in charge.

I will leave it at that…. But if Ukraine can slow his advance, then that is the better. But, eventually if he is not deterred, I think we will all be invited to the party.

As I wrote, " Iraq had no chance with the superiority of the U.S. air force, and neither did Germany once the Allies gained air superiority.

Thanks but I'm well aware of the history of WWII. That's why I used the phrase "once they gained air superiority". That would have been in March of 1944.

Here's an article that demonstrates my point:
https://www.airforcemag.com/PDF/MagazineArchive/Magazine%20Documents/2016/February%202016/0216supremacy.pdf

It begins with this:
"Air superiority is the single most important factor in deciding the outcome of a modern conventional war."

and arrest him next time he steps out of Russia. This is deliberate. I doubt there are anti-aircraft missiles hidden in residential areas or whatever excuse Russia will make up.

They should probably have anti-tank weapons too for the ground invasion.
