than it is to kill the tanks...

and that is what the Ukrainians are doing.

The other thing is to wait until a column of tanks enters an urban area... then take out the lead tank and the last tank... the rest become useless junk and even if you can't get through the armor... you can throw enough molotov cocktails at them to make them too hot for human habitation... as the tankers exit the tanks... shoot them.

used in set piece battles with an opposing army who also has tanks.

Open fields, lots of room to maneuver, etc.

If your opponent is either an insurgency fighting guerrilla war or has vast air superiority... tanks are not all that useful.

Looks like a pretty good clusterfuck, outrunning your line of supply is one of the biggest military blunders there is.

blunders of this engagement, to run ahead of supply lines. This is, if the Ukrainians are able to take advantage of this, a golden opportunity to regain ground.

when they'd had enough of the last Russian puppet, Yanukovich.

Putin is not stupid, he's got to realize he's stepped in a larger pile of doodoo than he anticipated. I just hope he's ready to declare victory sooner rather than later and accept Ukraine as a neutral nation without the kind of bloodshed they're risking.

It odesn't help that it's dawning on a lot of his invasion force that they are not being met as liberators.
