(8,674 posts)And GQP exactly how to create a cult with media manipulation. Zero difference from this Russians and MAGAs. And that is exactly where GQP and Fox want to take us. Accept extreme hardships because it is good for the leader. The way it has to be.

(24,759 posts)Those russkies have been fed a steady, daily diet of one pack of lies after another to the point where they believe the lie. When they were exposed to the truth, they got defensive and copped an attitude because they're invested in the lie.

(2,343 posts)But, there is no way all the Putin-supporting ones believed what they said. Most people in fear for their lives would say what's expected, especially when it was on video. One-person rule is the worst type of government God forbid the USA ever ends this way. Thankfully, we're not close!

(8,392 posts). . . that there is, in Russia, like the United States, a marked rural/urban split in attitudes towards Putin. Much of Western media has been focusing on Russians in St. Petersburg and Moscow, where people tend to be a bit more aware of what is really going on. But, according to my friend, when you get out into the Russian hinterlands, support for Putin is still quite strong.

(204,736 posts)After what we've seen of the mass protests, some of these opinions are disturbing - but we have to consider what they're hearing in their media and there has to be real fear of speaking out.
