to fight Nazis, and killed off some of his best officers. What saved the Russians back then was Zhukov, whom he had not gotten around to killing, and sending massive human waves on attack and defense. Moving Russians around by the millions, and letting them die by the millions more, helped a lot.

In the 70s I was drafted and sat through some "training" about starving and underequipped Russian soldiers with a lot of shiny stuff that didn't work. Turns out that was true. But, they did manage to stop the Germans, which was no small thing. War brings that out in you.

Anyway, I think, without actual evidence, that a committed Ukraine can fairly easily kill off as many Russians as the new Stalin can muster.
