Stephen Colbert - Monologue and Opening - 3/10/22

Russia's War Machine Slowed By Cheap Gear, Expired Rations | Ukraine's Ballerinas Join The Fight

Putin's army is failing in part because Russia's oligarchs embezzled huge sums of money instead of upgrading gear and stocking fresh food rations. Over in Ukraine, members of the country's prestigious ballet companies have put their careers on pause to return home and join the fight against Russia's invaders.

Meanwhile... Grimes and Elon Musk have done it again, and if you visit a museum in Denmark you can sit on a toilet shaped like Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich!

The Ukrainian National Ballet Presents: The Nutcracker

This is by far the best iteration of The Nutcracker.

Not as newsworthy as the past 2 nights, Michael McFaul and Marie Yovanovitch, you know he's been following the news from Ukraine closely. Colbert really follows politics and the news...

And he never hesitates to speak out! He takes pride in keeping up with the latest - I remember one time when there was breaking news when he was in the middle of taping his monologue (I think it was the report of TFG's first meeting with Kim Jong-un), so he abandoned what was written and ad libbed the rest! He does have great writers, but he's clever and funny enough all on his own...

And I loved the bat, too. I don't understand fear of bats. I once went to Linville Caverns in NC with my grandmother (my grandmother retired to Western NC, beautiful country) and the walls of the caves there were covered with sleeping bats. It was a feature, not an issue...

Because I’m always waking him up laughing so much. He flounces out of the bedroom for a snack and he is now getting a little tummy on him.

Btw, do you like Marie y’s new look? I think she looks fantastic.

I hesitated to mention that on the board, LOL - but I really like her hair now, it does frame her face, really suits her. She's attractive and so smart and perceptive - no wonder TFG had such issues with her.

And so sorry about the kitty. Mine just sits and stares at me.
