AG Garland: "DOJ Will Hold All Accountable", Starting w/"Cases in Front of Us & Build From There"NPR's Carrie Johnson interviewed Attorney General Merrick Garland about the course of the investigation into the attack on our democracy culminating in the January 6 assault on the US Capitol. Garland was direct and unequivocal in his pledge to hold everyone accountable for the Jan. 6 attack on our democracy. He also made a number of other statements and promises that signal the direction in which the Department of Justice is moving.
This video explores why it's taking so long for accountability to come to the command structure of the insurrection, including Donald Trump.

(51,129 posts)but they never point out how DoJ indicted so many Mueller targets under a Republican AG and President. Being a blowhard is so much easier than doing a critical analysis of how DoJ actually works, and not just because DoJ operates under a necessary cloak of keeping investigations secret to protect both the investigation and everyone's rights, but because blowhards are just plain lazy-assed windbags.

(17,538 posts)We will go after all of the people who are below "protected class" status. If you are some schmuck from Valdosta, you can fear the long reach and the almighty hammer of the law. The cases against the rich, famous and powerful will fall apart, disappear into the fog and night, evidence will be sealed for 50 years, and the primary investigators and prosecutors will quit in shame. After it is too late to correct any associated problems, scholarly books will be written about both the success and failure of the justice system.
