Unless I'm missing something, this doesn't make it appear too bad in Russia? MerryHolidays Mar 2022 #1

normally she gets some money sent monthly via bank transfers. those stopped working a couple of weeks ago. today she emailed my sister to try to send her friend in Ukraine some money via Western Union. that worked fine, so she then tried to send some to Russia and got a message that the 20th would be the last day for that and 23rd last day for pick up there.

They had such hope when Gorbachev began instituting more progressive policies in the late '80s - and then when the Soviet Union fell in 1991. But now they're stuck with a murderous autocrat who cares nothing for the people, he only wants power and will do anything to get it. And those who have attempted to bring him down are in prison or no longer with us. I feel for your stepmother - and those I met there when I visited the USSR with my grandmother and the peace group she joined in the late '80s.
