1. New Rule: Bill Maher Is A Piece Of Shit

I can't understand why people from DU still bother watching him. Because he's occasionally liberal? He's still an Ignorant Piece Of Shit.

And I thought what he said about the ACLU was on point. I thought their principal of standing for free speech rights of people who are despicable was admarable.

7. Earlier in the program he dissembled the situation with Disney and the "don't say gay" bill

By not bringing up Disney’s financial support of the republican state representatives who supported the bill, and of the content that’s been removed from their films (presumably because it was not heteronormative). And I have to believe it was willful, given that it’s his job to stay in touch with current events.

Just as one example from that episode. Fine, be moderate, but bring out the facts or state why you’re discarding them.

or not exactly relevant to the conversation at hand. Maher is hosting a live program under rigid time contracts while juggling two guests who at any moment can steer the conservation one of any dozen ways. He does a damn fine job IMO.

I have issues with Bill. Sure. I think his coverage of California (my state) issues are often one-sided or incomplete. But I don't expect him to be on top of everything.

11. He sets the agenda and I expect him to be on top of the topics he chooses.

Most of his guests, especially in this episode, respect when he switches topics. I don't think he broadcasts live, so he's got the power of the editing room, anyway.

it was a live show until January of this year but now it’s recorded. Just discovered that.

Anybody who doesn’t like Real Time with Bill Maher has the power to not watch. I like the show.

Otherwise my blood pressure gets too low.

I take it lightly. He seems to pick and choose his facts and so I watch when there’s a guest I want to hear from.

8. He actually sympathizes with those that wear MAGA hats

I still remember his commentary on Ashli Babbitt it didn’t work on me because I’m a veteran myself. He goes to Kirk to bash the left because that is where he is most comfortable.

Also he is millionaire on TV complaining about so called “cancel culture” which doesn’t exist and uses Woke like a dog whistle.

Main reason why he votes with Democrats is because of environmental reasons. He replied to Trump on Twitter saying he would vote for him if he was an environmentalist.

6. Because he provokes thought, he is able to keep open mind on any issue

Liberals used to be like that so he is old fashioned, classic, non-tribal liberal. He is also a very good comedian. No, I don’t want to only watch and hear echo chamber. Maher is one of the last remaining intellectuals on television who is fiercely against political correctness.

10. Idk, have you watched the entire episode that aired this week?

I understand your feelings about him sometimes I feel the same way as you do.
But it is an excellent episode with David Brooks and 2 other very intelligent people.
I don’t recall their names. Yeah sometimes Maher is a total dick I agree, especially when he gives certain right wingers a platform, without questioning any ridiculous thing they spout out, but I encourage you to watch this episode it’s quite excellent. Mostly to hear the guests. I learned a lot. If you have HBO that is.
Sorry I hope I’m not sounding contrarian. I respect your reaction.
I especially hate when vacced people diss vaccinations and etc.

The candidate I work for quoted this saying by Ed Koch. "if you agree with me on eight out of 10 issues I want your vote. If you agree with me on 10 out of 10 issues if you should see a therapist."

I would say Maher is on our side 80% of the time. And I agree to disagree on the remaining 20%.
