Related: About this forumAmb. Taylor: 'I Am Absolutely Convinced That The Ukrainians Will Win'
Former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bill Taylor joins Andrea Mitchell to discuss Russias attacks on civilians with no sign of withdraw, and to share how he sees the war playing out. It's inexcusable. This is clearly criminal activity, intentionally targeting where hundreds of Ukrainians were there, says Taylor. In the end, I am absolutely convinced that the Ukrainians will win. And that will set the stage for people like President Putin and others in the chain of command who bombed civilian targets, that will set the stage for that kind of accountability.

(111,251 posts)They're going to win because even if Russia manages to bludgeon their way across the country, they won't be able to keep it. They can't keep their massive death toll a secret for much longer, too many cell phone calls from Mama are going unanswered. When people start asking questions, they're not going to stop, not when it's sons and grandsons left to rot instead of being buried, their families notified.
The military that actually got some training instead of being promoted because somebody in Putin's family liked them know they've lost the war already. I have a feeling they test fired that hypersonic weapon mostly to see how it performed in the field. At this point, they've not got much left to lose.
The only question for me is whether Putin will pop a bullet into his own brain or someone else will do it for him. I don't know how long it will take, but it will eventually happen.
I see a fifth general has been killed, reported mostly by dodgy websites, this is the best: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/ukraine-fifth-russian-general-killed-b2039617.html They must've been handing out shoulder stars like after dinner mints, or maybe the command structure is really starting to hurt.

(87 posts)Putin got away with annexing the Crimea.
Now he rolled into the rest of the Ukraine just as Hitler rolled into Poland. The difference is, Hitler was successful in taking Poland very quickly. Putin is not having such an easy time with the Ukraine. And other nations are standing up more aggressively than back in 1939.
Hitler was a war criminal. So is Putin.

(5,383 posts)A purge of historical proportions. One like those the Russians have shown experience with in the past.
Putin needs to go, someone higher up in the Russian hierarchy needs to say 'Oops! Sorry! come home troops! We will fix all the damage we did!'
All will be forgiven, sanctions will be lifted, Ukrainians will breathe easy, and the Russian people will benefit.
I'm convinced a purge at the top is needed.
Am I dreaming? I'm hopeful.

(51,129 posts)Imagine if the MAGAs had two decades of dictatorship and only Fox news was allowed, cultural recovery would not happen overnight. Add a criminal mafia of oligarchs to the equation and change becomes even more difficult. Russia is a pyramid scheme of corruption.
