Highly recommended.

Snyder defines and gives examples of the "politics of inevitability" and the "politics of eternity." Unlike the critics noted in the Wikipedia's entry, I'd rather err on the side of claiming Ilyin had great influence on Putin -- after all, the first thing he did as Russia's president by giving Ilyin an official state funeral in Moscow, full presidential speech and all -- than claiming he doesn't.
