Tanks aren't important on the new battlefield. The individual soldier has the capability to destroy a tank, or a rocket launcher, or an artillery piece, or an airplane. Drones can do the same.
The siege mentality that Russia is still embracing in Ukraine is pretty much a losing idea.
It requires a large amount of physical equipment be brought to the battlefield for a protracted period of time. This equipment may be powerful, but it is also vulnerable, and requires continual re-supply of ammunition.
All the time it provides thousands of ground-based static, or nearly static, targets that can be taken out by individual soldiers.
We are seeing this in Ukraine.
If Ukraine gets all the anti-aircraft missiles they are promised, even the Russian fighter/bombers will be in jeopardy. Helicopters will be fat targets; sitting ducks.
It is my unprofessional opinion that Russia will lose this war. The Ukraine army has everything to lose, and the Russian army has very little to win. The longer it continues, the more obvious it will become.
