The Chief Justice has no power to set or enforce code of ethics on fellow justices.
Could/would Congress pass a law mandating an ethics code?
Would such a law violate separations of power clauses?
Guess who decides that.
Impeachment is the tool that the Constitution provides.

He's still a member of the court. Nothing in the constitution requires Supreme Court Justices to be a lawyer. If the Senate approves, Joe the Plumber could sit on the Supreme Court. Barring impeachment and removal by Congress, the only thing required of a Justice once they are sworn in, is to have a pulse.

"Canon 2: A Judge Should Avoid Impropriety and the Appearance of Impropriety in all Activities

"Outside Influence. A judge should not allow family, social, political, financial, or other relationships to influence judicial conduct or judgment. A judge should neither lend the prestige of the judicial office to advance the private interests of the judge or others nor convey or permit others to convey the impression that they are in a special position to influence the judge."

Thomas has clearly violated Canon 2, "the appearance of impropriety," by failing to recuse himself because of his wife's political activism.

in the Senate and Representative Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) in the House back in '21. The legislation, co-sponsored by Senator Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and 15 other Senate Democrats, would require the Judicial Conference of the United States to create a code of ethical conduct for the Supreme Court of the United States.
