in NC state employees get heavily subsidized insurance ($50 a month for the 80/20 plan or $25 a month for the 70/30 plan) but have to pay full price for family members (80/20 are $305 a month for employee and children, $700 a month for employee and spouse, $720 a month for employee and family) (70/30 are $218 a month for employee and children, $590 a month for employee and spouse, and $598 for employee and family). Teachers start here at about 40k a year and max out at about 70k.
