(67,032 posts)a victory to Putin, then who will be next. The "I have nukes" is not going away IMO with Ukraine. He will move on to another non-Nato country IMO with the same line. I don't have the solution, but I see it likely coming.

(67,032 posts)heavy sanctions are maintained against Russia. The people need to clearly see what their leader has brought to them. That IMO would be a most effective deterrent ... that, and how his invasion has failed. ... and that the world sees their leader as an abusive fool.

(51,129 posts)They need to understand the world sees Putin as a war criminal, as someone doing to Ukraine what Hitler did to Russia, an invasion of conquest.

(991 posts)They expect very little. Theyre content living without much comforts. As long as their leader doesnt throw them in the gulag theyre fine. They have made peace living in a government that is corrupt from head to toe. Its the way of life there. Its an old country. Unlike USA. Which will turn into a similar government if thugs, oligarchs, billionaires, whatever you want to call them, continue to destroy our country.

(17,308 posts)Do we threaten to melt Moscow if Putin threatens us again? Putin is not "winning" now, why escalate? I agree with what our President said, sanctions should remain or increase as long as the Russians have a madman running their country, but I don't want to let testosterone destroy civilization.
It was good for Putin to hear that we have had enough of his shit. Lets see where it goes from there. Make no mistake, we will kill a lot more Ukrainians (and everybody else) by starting a nuclear war than by not...It is always an option, lets don't rush it.
Biden is doing a great job under very difficult circumstances, let him lead, that is why we hired him.

(51,129 posts)The impact of sanctions is incremental, and soon Russia won't have what they need to keep their country running smoothly, airline parts, chips for manufacturing, etc.
Imposing sanctions incrementally in response to Russia's actions has been a proper response.

(17,308 posts)I don't get all of the saber rattling. Anyone with a heart and a mind is deeply disturbed by what is happening to the Ukrainian people. We know the blame lies on the Russian leadership, but a lot of us don't want to destroy the world in response. It makes me wonder if a lot of people do not realize what would happen in an exchange of nuclear weapons.
I am glad that we have a smart, stable, mature, man leading our country today. He has access to information that we don't. I am not a blind follower of any leader, but I don't need to second guess the way that Joe Biden is handling this situation.
