The battle to defend democracy that continues in Ukraine, five weeks into Vladimir Putin's invasion. Ukraine's counteroffensive continues to hold the line, amid fresh concerns about the Russian dictator's endgame. There is new evidence of Russian brutality on the outskirts of Kyiv, even as a senior U.S. Defense official said Russia is making no progress in its advance on the capital. I don't think they have any plan to join NATO at this moment in time.

Guess they suggested a change when she went through hair and makeup tonight. She does a good job, think she was a good choice, but I do wonder what happened to "Velshi & Ruhle?" They were the economics team.

5. Velshi is doing great coverage from Ukraine.

He was in Hungary and Poland before that. He's an economist, but seems to be quite knowledgeable about history, geopolitics, etc. He's been in Rachel's 9pm slot for 2 or 3 weeks and also has his own show Saturday and Sunday 8 to 10 am.

If Rachel does leave, I think he'd be a great replacement.

6. Oh, I certainly agree!

He is invaluable, he can step in as substitute host for anyone - and has! And I couldn't agree more that he's been doing a stellar job reporting from the border from the past few weeks! Not to mention, he's still conducting interviews from stateside. I was thinking just the other day that he definitely deserves an award for his reporting!

7. Right. If he wasn't a journalist

he could have been a conductor or more likely a director.
He keeps it all flowing, yet manages to have a really human touch.
