(4,292 posts)He was one tough interviewer/host on 60 Minutes.
I want to think that he's smiling down on his son Chris after the move from Faux Noise.

(206,502 posts)Steve Kroft was the new "young kid!" Back in the day, I worked with CBS - I was responsible for their TV listings in the newspapers. And I'd call "60 Minutes" or they'd fax me information on what the week's show was about. I remember when Bob Simon was kidnapped and I called to express my sympathies when Harry Reasoner died. These guys were really tough pros, especially Mike Wallace. I don't think it was the same after the departure of Don Hewitt who created the show - but it's got to be just about the longest running show, ever!
And I have often wondered what Mike Wallace would think of his son on Fox "News!" Though Chris Wallace was no Tucker Carlson, but just being associated with that channel had to be embarrassing to his Dad who was a serious journalist.

(30,779 posts)that I thought Colbert lost control of an interview. He allowed Wallace to promote his new gig without any reference to his leaving Fox. Colbert should have pressed for an answer, even if it was a brief, jocular encounter about Fox, without mentioning them by name. I know they have to be careful about lawsuits.
Shame on you, Colbert.

(11,998 posts)...it wasn't quite what the caption described, i.e. "begins with a frank discussion of what led Wallace to leave Fox News" -- no, more like a little banter about it. No real discussion.
