A fire broke out at a fuel depot in Belgorod, a Russian city near the Ukrainian border, which the regional governor said was caused by an air strike from Ukrainian helicopters. CNN is unable to verify this claim. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense told CNN it had no information about the incident.

(22,671 posts)It's not like it wouldn't be justified on Ukraine's behalf. Moscow being leveled would be no less deserved. But since these are Russian made helicopters firing what are more than likely Russian rockets and without a shot being fired back upon them in what should be well defended Russian airspace, a la S-400 AA systems capable of shooting down anything and everything withing a 400 mile radius of their positions, it's very likely that the helicopters are Russian or those of Russian allies.
Based on the facts. That would be my assumption.

(14,778 posts)I don't get why, if you are going to do a false flag operation, you want it to appear to do damage, not actually do damage.
If it were the russian army, they would have hit a hospital or school. something they could be outraged over and use in retaliation for ukr claims of war crimes. This was clearly a military, not a civilian target.
Unless you are saying it was a rogue operation by soldiers sick of the war and looking to slow it down/force a retreat?

(8,401 posts)Russia has had major problems with logistics, including those concerning the refueling of their vehicles. i seriously doubt Putin would, under these circumstances, take out one of his own fuel depots, let alone one close to the border. And you're right -- if he does do a false flag operation, it will be a site that arouses much more anger than a fuel depot!

It's war. War, special military operation, whatever. You bomb a country, it's should be kind of expected that the attacked country will attack you back at some point.
This is seriously fucked up.
