I am so fucking tired of these fucking Republican MEN and, unfortunately some women, trying to take away MY choice based on some warped idea of what they think their God wants. This has really hit a nerve amonst those of us who have had our choice taken away at one time or another.

NO NO NO!

This was powerful and personal. Next time some wing nut thinks alright to be so blase about women being sexually violated - play this video.

There are always people that want to shame the victim of rape. Now they want to add another layer of shame on the victim that becomes pregnant. First by saying if she was really raped she wouldn't be pregnant to begin with. Then if she wants an abortion she is murdering an innocent baby (even if it's the morning after pill, that only prevents implantation). They like to imply that if a woman was chaste and appropriate at all times she wouldn't get raped.

Something that has stuck with me for a lot of years is once I was talking to a woman and I said something about men saying inappropriate things to me and she said that it never happened to her because she carried herself correctly. That men only do that if they think they have permission. I can only imagine the scars that would put on a victim of rape.

And it was one of the most powerful things I've ever seen. I really admire and respect Melissa Harris-Perry.

As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, if anyone told me that "men only do that if they think they have permission," I'd tell them in no uncertain terms where they could stick it.

I was lucky in that I never thought it was my fault. I was (and remain) filled with rage. Appropriate rage. At the abuser and anyone who enables him and his ilk.

I'm betting Mourdoch's statement would cause his head to drop in shame as well as those of us who have our heads on straight.
