Stephen Colbert - Monologue and Opening - 4/4/22

Jon Batiste Brings Home 5 GRAMMY Awards | Zelensky Urges Artists To Support Ukraine

We couldn't be more proud of Jon Batiste after his triumph at the GRAMMY Awards, where he performed "FREEDOM" and took home five awards including Album of the Year for "WE ARE." The GRAMMYs audience also heard from Volodymyr Zelensky who urged musicians to use their voices to support the people of Ukraine.

WE ARE So Darn Proud Of Jon Batiste

Stephen, Louis Cato and the rest of the band can't stop talking about Jon Batiste's triumphant night at the GRAMMY Awards, where he took home five trophies and gave a showstopping performance of his uplifting anthem, "FREEDOM."

Guess I'm okay with not listening to the Van Zants, never heard them before this and, obviously, not a fan anyway.

Cool...so one of the artists on Stephen's show won 5 grammies huh? The Grammies sound quite anti-climactic after the Oscars ;-/...

Charismatic in performance. The man has the chops and he knows it but is humble about it. His talents approach those of Prince, whom I liked for several reasons but didn't absolutely love him... I cried all day when he passed and I don't cry very often.

I only know a few of Prince's songs....Prince's genre was pop right?..Not sure...

I don't know much about music so I could be completely wrong, but this sound reminded me of some songs from the sixties (?) I like such as The Spinners' "Rubberband Man". The Spinners' music genres are listed on Wiki as: soul, funk and Philly soul. Whereas the genres listed for Batiste are:R&B and Jazz. So not really the same thing I guess..

Not to mention that Jon and Stephen Colbert aren't just on the show together, they're friends, so Colbert was rooting for him.

come across as so humble and real. Very rare.

Just woke up for round 2. Off to the rec center for a few miles on the track and later another nap. 3 or 4 hour at a time is how my body works. If I get my 8 hours, it's spread out over 24.
