And while he's at it, bus your migrant workers elsewhere so you have No One to work your fields, stock your warehouses, move your product.
That'll jam up the supply chain, eh Abbott?
This has to be on the top 5 most-likely-to-backfire campaign stunts ever made.

(15,325 posts)I see BETO is running within a point or two for the Tx Gov seat.
My god would that win be a breath of fresh air.
In one swat Beto could remove the stench of corruption in Tx Statehouse..

(86,765 posts)Is a Governor O'Rourke. Perhaps enough people are fed up enough to make it so this time.

Beto is so awesome!!! Not meaning to pat myself on the back here, but back when we were hearing how far back Beto was in polling (before he formally declared) I knew that once he was officially in the race those numbers would change. Which of course they have.
It is a good interview.
Now Beto can't do it all.
Texans we have one job in November. Elect Beto and Mike Collier. They will be a formidable team.
Of course we have to get Collier on the ballot so please please vote in the damn runoff.
That is all!

(15,325 posts)I still have my black & white BETO yard sign from last time.
He's been campaigning so steadily & smart.
We need to pull Tx out of GOP hell & into a bright better future for us all.
Beto O'Rourke is the man for that moment.
No doubt.

(15,325 posts)Half this State would weep for joy if Beto won.
Think Abbott is counting on all the voter suppression they put in place to pull off his win.
There are no term limits for Tx gov. Abbott can run forever, or until he is beaten.
Our Statehouse is run by criminals all owned by foreign money. Most likely, oil.
Its ugly.

(81,437 posts)I forgot about your election - that Beto's in.
I REALLY want Beto to win. Besides, he needs a victory that's this prominent - to keep being considered a player. If he loses again, it could become problematic for him as a future candidate for anything.

Vote Beto.

(86,765 posts)So two things to remember here, Abbott can only command the actions of state troopers and state officers and the feds are the ones who deal with what is inside the trailers. So the state DOT guys are crawling around checking the brakes and that sort of thing, looking at all the permits and licenses, that's only a federal thing after a crime has been identified.
Trailers that cross international borders with freight are sealed. That seal is a mere strip of aluminum or plastic but it is registered and can only be broken, legally, by a designated receiver, if it is broken at the border, the feds have to investigate so I can tell you that the vast majority of the trailers with freight on them will not be subjected to cargo inspection. Besides, there will be a pile of papers describing what's supposed to be inside.
Anyone who has been in the produce transport business can see, quite clearly, that this is all a crock of poo that stinks to high heaven.
Abbott is using food as a weapon here, make no mistake. A large portion of the freight on those trailers is fresh produce with an expiration date which means by the time that stuff gets to the warehouse, it's garbage and several entities take a big loss. That creates a big problem for food security for much of the country so this needs to be seen in that light as well as the other problems created by this bs.
