I think he was on board or was at least approached about not certifying the election in the absence of Pence.

Remember at first Pence was not supposed to oversee the count, but that story was later retracted.

I hope Grassley is hammered on this point on the election trail.

Chris Hayes did a compelling presentation on this tonight.

I think one of the most important points was how Pence knew not to leave the Capitol and also about the buses. Very creepy, those buses.

And let's not forget: Nancy knew, too. She insisted on staying, no matter what, and certifying the election.

And absolutely chilling.

I also remember hearing (on Colbert) that Pence has prevented the official photos of that day from being released. And I've wondered, since we know the photos are in public domain, how he can do that.

That point had me reeling: One reason Pence would not leave in his limo is that he did not want foreign governments to see the v-p and entourage leaving the Capitol. Think of the image that would create around the world and in the financial markets.

That actually was impressive on Pence's part. It shows he can think outside his own selfish interests, which is almost nonexistent with republicans.

From which, according to what we heard on Colbert, he could actually see the gallows built for him! "yowser:

And I agree that it's impressive and admirable that Pence did the right thing on that day - it can't have been easy for him after four long years of going along with whatever ridiculous nonsense he was told. I actually can't remember previously hearing from him at all - even during the VP debate, he only quoted TFG.

Not only the reason for Pence refusing to leave, but:

Who ordered those buses to take the Congress people away from the Capitol?

You don't just order up a bunch of buses and have them show up all of a sudden....

Someone knew they would be needed, or wanted them to be used. Removing Pence and the Congress was another element of a "successful" coup.

Who ordered those buses????

The more we learn, the more frightening it gets - and we need to know exactly who was responsible.

There is a whole lot more that we have to learn, but we sure came closer than we ever knew that day - if not for a few courageous souls who knew what the real dangers were. "I'm not getting in that car..."

If either one of those things had happened, Pence leaving or Congress leaving on those busses, the coup would have been successful imo.

Also, someone posted that the noose could be seen from Pence's window. That is either a big coincidence or the rioters were told where to set it up.

And Pence was certainly sent a message which caused him to understand the rioters intentions.
