that conservatives are 'economists'. Conservatives are not economists, they are ideologues. They have a bunch of stupid ideas written down on a napkin that say "If you do this, then this will happen." Their ideas are all wishful thinking with no hope of success. Not one, conservative, economic 'principle' has ever worked. And when they are proven wrong, the response is "Well, you didn't do it long enough or hard enough or not enough tax breaks." Notice that every bill they present that lowers taxes on the wealthy is called a 'jobs bill'. Life doesn't work like that, economies don't work like that. I've challenged conservatives to explain why their economic ideas never worked. One response was "It worked for Reagan." First, I explained that we still actually had a manufacturing base in this country under Reagan, which rebounded in spite of the damage he did. I explain that Reagan tripled the debt of this country, did NOT single-handedly rid the world of Communism, negotiated with terrorists, wasted billions on military hardware that probably still sits in warehouses somewhere, and refused to do anything about the AIDS crisis the country faced under his watch. I enjoyed your post.

and Rule #1 says never argue with a crazy person.

Anyone who says you are wrong without being able to say how or why is a crazy person. Anyone who says you are a (insert pejorative) or an enemy is a crazy person. And anyone who says "because god did it that way" has just nailed his or her mind shut and is not worth talking to on much of any level but the weather.

Not arguing with a crazy person doesn't mean shutting them down and stomping off in a huff, it just means not arguing.

Asking them to point out what you said that was a lie is good. Let them stomp off in a huff. The failure will be noted by others.

Not arguing with crazy people got me through 25 years of nursing without having a single full bedpan launched in my direction, and few nurses can say that. And I was dealing with big league crazy people, unmedicated paranoid schizophrenics right off the street who needed care for things below the neck.

and never think about what those slogans mean. I'd rather let them call me their favorite pejorative and stomp off in a huff. Anyone within earshot knows they're idiots. I never argue, I just ask them what that slogan means. Even in my mid 70s, I can be all wide eyed innocence when I want to. It's more infuriating than an argument.
