Found it interesting….the woman crying as they took him away, saying don’t hurt him. I guarantee had this been taking place in russia he’d be hurt for sure.

easy to bash the Ukrainian government while praising the enemy. Maybe these ppl should be given the opportunity, a little bit of money and a free ride to russia.

We should give the 70+ Million Republican voters the same treatment. Free one way (forced) trip to Putin Land.........
That sure would give them a new appreciation of "Freedum"......LOL

In our faltering Democracy if America's fascist will do this to people they deem traitors using social media platforms to identify us? Happened in Nazi Germany where people sold each other out by word of mouth. Sounds Kooky right. But if I told you there's going to be a major war in Europe a year ago with people in a sovereign country being slaughtered by the tens of thousands and entire cities being flattening by Russia that would've sounded a bit Kooky too, Eh?

. . . And worse, it gives credence to the ridiculous rhetoric by the right that they are being targeted.

Yes, treason and sedition are illegal. But under U.S. law, what this man in Ukraine was arrested for would never qualify as either. He is being arrested for social media posts that expressed support for Putin. The day something similar happens here is the day the First Amendment dies!

And I also note that if we were actively at war, we would probably feel the sameabout any of our citizens who vocally supported the enemy. In fact, we have done so - not as politely.

It's long past time that ALL the perpetrators of 1/6 - and the continuing aftermath - need to be held responsible and face consequences. But the organizers - who have not been shy about boasting of their traitorous plans in public - need to be held responsible FIRST!

Middle aged, pudgy, hot shit on his phone but a cold, wet fart when confronted with it. I loved that a soldier gave the wife a quick hug, said they wouldn't hurt him. Well, they will, but not physically.

These cellphone warriors are dangerous as hell. They really need to knock it off. Jail will do that.

This guy reminds me of the nonviolent Jan 6 hangers on, OK with following the bad actors into the building, but too chickenshit to do anything but look around and leave. They're the ones getting fines and community service.

Likewise, I wouldn't shoot this dumbass for treason. I'd keep him where he couldn't do anything about his sentiments, maybe feed him expired Russian MREs liberated from their troops to make him feel at home, turn him loose to keep being an arse when the war is over.

If you know how democracy works, you know it needs the arses along with everybody else.

Aiding the enemy (russia) while living in Ukraine.

Totally reasonable to try and silence these traitors.

. . . I don't think arresting people on the basis of social media posts is something any Western democracy should celebrate.

I could be, but it has also been weaponized and continues to be weaponized. Social media posts are being used as evidence by the FBI in rounding up J6 participants, and they should be, since social media was used to polot the insurrection.

Lincoln shut down dozens of newspapers during the civil war and suspended the writ of habeas corpus, jailing thousands of opponents. To be fair, it is my understanding the confederacy did the same.

There was also censorship and were arrests during WWII.

When in a war, emergency powers will likely be put in place. The number one goal is to win the war. Debate about the war is a low priority.
