How escaped Alabama inmate and corrections officer were caught

Listening to the story told by the marshalls, I've developed the theory that they had a suicide pact and he shot her then chickened out. scumbag. what the fuck happened to her to willfully destroy her own life i can not divine.
Can't he be charged with her murder even if she pulled the trigger herself? A death occurring during the commission of a crime?

She was manipulated, weaknesses exploited...

Reminds me of how these online lovers scammers work ...the ones from like overseas posting fake photos, promising marriage, love , happiness and getting all their savings, money from the woman ..... same kind of manipulation....Is their a diagnosis for this vulnerable personalities?

I've been a fool for love in my lifetime, but never to such an extent. I guess that's why it's just not possible for me to understand what drove her. She threw everything away - for a murderer. She was a victim, true, but he didn't hold a gun to her head and make her sell her home for cash, help him escape from jail, and literally throw everything good she had going for her to the wind.

I really think it's plausible though that they had hatched a suicide plot in the event they were caught, and he killed her then didn't have the guts to do himself, or never intended to. I hope there's enough evidence to establish whether she shot herself or not.

23 years ago I asked my sister to not go to Vegas with a certain individual, but "she loved him". He ended up murdering her and committing suicide. I knew of my sister's weaknesses and gullibility when it came to 'STRONG' MEN.

to relate and have some compassion for someone who may have been a 'victim' herself...as far as my sister goes. Many complicated reasons for situations like this one from Florida. Just have to keep going as best as you can. Thanks.

I have nothing but compassion. I got out of an abusive relationship with my life many years ago. After about a year being with him I realized I didn't recognize myself. That kind of mind fuck is all too common. When my daughter was killed, I was in grief counseling with others whose daughters or siblings were killed by a domestic partner.

I think this is different. He was incarcerated and she fell for him that hard, but how? Where was the time for him to work that kind of mojo on her mind? Most relationships at least start with some promise of happiness, but this one? Do you know what I mean? I'm baffled.

after delving into the years leading up to the tragedy, for me, I ended up "baffled" myself. As to how these things happen. I just had to accept and keep moving. Human relationships are just too complicated for me...

...is that in some states, if someone dies due to violence during the commission of a felony, surviving perpetrators can be charged with murder. I don't know the Indiana law.
