I was particularly looking forward to tough questions by Stephen Colbert when Esper appeared on The Late Show tonight, but it's been postponed since Colbert is suffering from a recurrence Of Covid.

My area of the Northeast had the highest concentrations, but now it's back downstate and hitting New York City. I know three people in my Northeastern county who currently have it for the first time.

in MO and it has gone through the nursing home my Mom is in. She hasn’t gotten it thankfully. Supposedly the numbers are low here in my area, but people don’t test like they did in the past so I am guessing it’s really higher.

They've reinstated and rescinded them so often that people would rebel. They never should have rescinded them to begin with, but it was "tourist season" in these parts and everything had remained closed the previous year, damaging the local economy. *sigh*

Hoping that your mother remains safe!

never required a mask mandate even when Covid started. Cities could require masks as well as stores. Same with hospitals and doctors offices. Then our AG started suing school districts earlier this year if they imposed mask mandates, but before he could sue them, cities started dropping mask mandates and then schools followed. One district counter sued the AG and they still plan to sue him. Guess the district has a lot of money to work with. I hope they win.

At the height of the pandemic, it seemed like there was a breakout and shutdown in a local school every other day - and masks were required in all schools and on school buses. A woman I know who works in a local elementary school told me that her granddaughter was sent home along with the entire fifth grade - she figures a teacher who deals with all the children, like music, art or gym, tested positive. And the little girl brought it home and infected her Dad and brother - and the Dad who is this woman's son got very ill. Children can bring it home to parents and siblings.
