Tesla bursts into flames. Owner kicks window out to escape.

He urges all Tesla owners to figure out where their emergency unlock mechanism is, in case they lose all their power, as he did. In the emergency, he couldn't figure it out so he kicked out his window and escaped through that.

a tad ridiculous since all automakers have issues such as that.
And no, I do not own a Tesla as I doubt I could ever afford one and I sure as hell would not risk buying a used one as the cost to replace the battery I have heard is absurdly expensive.

If I was looking to buy a car, I would want to know why it needs one.

So instead of a handle, there is a button that opens the door. Tesla's, some BMW's, Cadillac's, Lincoln's, and Corvette's have it. I think some exotics have it as well. They all have backup mechanical releases in case the power is out. My last Corvette had a little latch on the floor near the door sill.

the door handle from the inside and the door opens. No door in a car, house anywhere should have a button to to open. Electricity is not always the best option.

The handle to open the door from the inside is invisible and is part of the armrest. I sat for a minute trying to figure out how to get out. Kind of unnerving.

to get a free repair.

Imagine how much Tesla is covering up that way.
