They talk it up, wait for their favorite friend (time), and then do nothing.

Lots of Russian money poured into the NRA and the more local a seat in a legislature is, the cheaper it is to buy.

Sad but true. Republicans are OK w/child murders. My niece, my neighbor - they're all OK with it. The friendly, loud mouth republican at the pool - he's OK with child murders.

Republicans: Laws - fuck the laws. What you do with your arsenal of assault weapons is up to you. You're an antigovernment militia? Unstable? A confused, angry teenager? criminal? - Republicans want assault rifles for all.

a claw of terrorism. r's like the p.o.s. in the photo are getting exactly what they want. A fearful, anxious population that has to be on guard about so many hazards, dangers that threaten the safety of their loved ones, that they can't sleep, they live so stressed they can't think ahead. Adults are usually wired to nuture and protect children, but r's are willing to eat their own if it energizes their power even a little bit. The poor little kids aren't living in a vacuum. They hear the news and internalize the horrors that are no longer just under the bed. I was at a place today and saw kids there on a field trip. It should have been a joyful, exciting day for all of the kids. One child waved at me from her bus, but I noticed most of the kids were unsmiling and who knows what they were thinking.

Going forward, I'm not going to mention places I go, especially if children go there too. Why give these terrorists ideas for the next place they'll target and despoil? We have very few places left that don't recall the murders of innocents by the hands of r's, and the way things are going, they will make sure there is no place left that feels safe or pleasant.

It's more a very dumb interpretation of what 'freedom' actually means.

In other societies, at least those not at war with an external or internal enemy force, the freedom to NOT be killed by some nutcase while at school, at church, in a mall or at work, supersedes any other interpretation of what freedom means.

As a result, weapons are only in the hands of active military people, on duty police and armed rapid response teams. And those people are highly trained and don't bear a grudge against any random citizen.
The countries where that applies is a long list. You can probably name a few yourself.

Random 18 year olds who go off the rails mentally just do not have access to guns.

Accept the current . . . .'Oops, more dead kids! What are we going to do?' rhetoric as being inevitable, or smarten up.

How to smarten up?

1. Declare every single gun licence null and void.
2. Shut down gun shops.
3. Have an amnesty and buyback of weapons from citizens.
4. Delete 2A from the Constitution. It is no longer relevant.
5. Declare and treat every citizen who goes out in public armed as a potential urban terrorist and respond appropriately.

(There! Rough drafts of 5 executive orders POTUS Joe can borrow and flesh out. No hurry, today will do.)

Smarten up America! Guns or public safety, you can't have both.

PERSONAL NOTE:

As an older Australian citizen, I've seen our society evolve some smarts on guns.
50 years ago, I could walk in and buy a gun at a gun shop. No questions asked.
I had several, even a replica Kentucky long rifle complete with moulds for casting lead slugs and FFF powder in a metal flask.

Today, the guns are gone from my life, the gun shops disappeared long ago, and I feel SAFER every day.

America, what is stopping you? EVOLVE, damn you!

To Republicans, children are sacred up to the moment they are born.

After that, they are target practice.
