I knew someone whose family was slaughtered by a burglar, wife and kids came home from the grocery and surprised the burglar and all were killed on the spot. House was full of guns "for protection." That's what the burglar used. People with guns in the home are 14 times more likely to die from gunshot, suicides slightly outnumbering homicides. Worst thing is when cops break in on a no knock warrant, half asleep person goes for the pistol on the nightstand and gets blown away. Oops, wrong house. Sucked to be him/her.
So yeah, all they've got are bullshit arguments, but we already knew that.
Note I'm not for banning hunting rifles or shotguns. People outside cities need those, they can't call animal control to pop a tranquilizer dart into a problem animal and rehome it away from people. They need a warning shot followed by a killing shot if the animal is having a bad day and charges at them.
It's the semiauto killing machines that have to go. Those have made mass murder far too easy. No sane country can possibly tolerate that kind of firepower in civilian populations. It just doesn't work.
