Joy Reid Slams Cruz NRA Speech: Do Texans Want To Send Their Kids To Schools That Look Like Prison?

As the people of Uvalde continue to mourn the deaths of the 19 children and two teachers who perished in a mass shooting there mere days ago, the National Rifle Association is holding an apparent praise and worship session for the AR-15 and other weapons of death in the face of local and national outrage. Joy Reid and her panel, Charles Blow, Michael Steele and investigative reporter Mike Hixenbaugh, discuss. Aired on 05/27/2022.

H was telling us how Republicans in ages past were a lot more sensible on gun control, and how gun control laws used to pass with bipartisan support. How come Republicans are so fanatically pro-gun and anti gun control now, I wondered. Then it hit me: The political power of Republicans is a lot more threatened now by the changing demographics of the electorate - more ethnic, more diverse - and they are now increasingly in the position of being a minority unfairly in control or the reins of power in states where they dominate through increasing corruption and dirty tricks to tilt the electoral playing field in their favor wherever they rule. Being essentially an oppressive minority holding power, their pro-gun fanaticism is probably a subconscious response to how threatened they feel on a subliminal level.

Which has resulted in that offensive "replacement" meme, and their efforts to suppress the votes of anyone who is "not like them..."

Are there T shirts with Labels for the "good guys" so we know who's who? Similarly; T shirts for the "Bad Guys". That would make it easier to tell who's who.

I went to a boarding school where they were obsessed with the threat of fire. I lived on the third floor and there were "fire ropes" by every window and we not only had regular fire drills, but the student rooms were inspected for flammable materials, like posters, we could only have a certain number of inches. I found out years later that the fear came from a fire in that dorm (brick structure, built in 1912) back in the '40s or '50s where one student died. It had been a deep dark secret for all those decades until her roommate finally spoke out.
