...someone, so long ago at least 2000 years, made the gears by hand with thin metal and files!

Their entire knowledge of astronomy and the cosmos, placed in to a device that could predict the future movements of the planets and their cycles, a device that was small and portable and of a level of sophisticated construction that was light years beyond what we thought the ancients were capable of.
