To End 'Roe,' GOP-Appointed Justice Says Pregnant Women Were Prosecuted In 1600s - The Beat - MSNBC

The unprecedented leak of a draft opinion by Justice Alito to overturn abortion rights is stoking nationwide debate, as many advocates and commentators warned GOP-appointed Justices would take this approach despite pledging otherwise at confirmation hearings.

Social commentator and comedian Samantha Bee offered such warnings for years. Bee, the first woman to host a late-night satire show and host of "Full Frontal with Samantha Bee," joins MSNBC’s Ari Melber to discuss women’s rights, her comedy and commentary in this area, and why she views the draft Supreme Court opinion as “wildly out of touch." if the pregnancy had resulted from rape or if the man did the damage and ran off. What wasn't prosecuted was quick action by a friendly midwife, if the woman survived it.

Besides, what Grand Inquisitor Alito cited was the abortion of a "quick" pregnancy, meaning it was five months along and fetal movement could be felt. Those were indeed prosecuted, but anyone who performed them was prosecuted, generally not the woman. Ending a pregnancy of that duration back when the medical treatment of choice for everything was being bled was often fatal.

But it explains the high death rate of expectant mothers. And the death rate in this country is still way too high, even today, which means that heath care should be a priority. What these RWers don't understand is that the main business of Planned Parenthood is women's health care, not abortions. In some areas, that's the only place available for women to receive care.
