This was a tragedy that didn't need to happen and the root cause is the insane war on drugs, the DEA going after doctors and their patients because they're the easiest targets.

The easy access to GUNS just made sure mass murder was his easiest option as he focused his rage on a doctor hamstrung by systematic cruelty from the DEA.

Nobody's saying that, of course. People in agony just need to suck it up because drugs are always bad.
