With J6 hearings to begin 6/9, we finally learn that DOJ is criminally investigating Trump. Why now?

It seems we have waited an eternity for the Department of Justice to initiate a criminal investigation of Donald Trump and his co-conspirators for their crimes against the United States culminating in the January 6 insurrection. We now know that the DOJ is, in fact, using the grand jury to criminally investigate Trump. We know this for a number of reasons, including the revelation that Peter Navarro has been subpoenaed to the grand jury and required to divulge all evidence of his communications with Trump. As Rolling Stone reported, "The DOJ's Jan. 6 Investigation Appears to be Closing in on Trump."

The question is, why now? Why, 18 months after the Trump-incited attack on the US Capitol are we just now learning of a federal investigation into Trump? One reason may be, the American people are about to see for themselves the evidence of Donald Trump's crimes, courtesy of the public hearings regarding the insurreciton set to begin on June 9. Once the American people see the evidence for themselves, there undoubtedly will be a public outcry demanding that Trump be held accountable for his crimes.

As Newsweek reported: "DOJ Accelerating Trump Investigations Ahead of Jan. 6 Hearings." This video explores the likely reasons for this "acceleration." - Glenn Kirschner 06/02/2022.

Felonies, misdemeanors, tax crimes, etc.

But I will hold out hope.

The timing of all this might be a lot better than we thought.

They have only scheduled a small part of it prime time, as I recall. It will be a MIRACLE even if on networks and YouTube etc that any of the people who need to see it, end up seeing it.

If MILLIONS of people who otherwise would not have voted dont watch this and then vote accordingly, I wont be surprised but I will be so fucking angry words will not describe.

Millions of people who don't vote have lives we don't really understand, some are in hardship, can't afford electric bills, nevermind cable; some are grasshoppers from birth -- but murdered innocents and violence get their attention -- and they remember how the impeachments went and like Democrats' fact based politics. This should be similar.

If reports get out about how well its multimedia presentation is, it might work to attract more and more viewers each time. Not sure what channels the "lurid spectacle" of Depp/Heard was on, but the yuge audience showed us that drama attracts. Right before June 9, the nationwide protests for gun control will happen.

Most people know that they can watch MSNBC for all such things anyway. The truth will get out. Though if I owned a bar I'd say the TV's out of order or put up a 'gone fishing' sign.

Videos are difficult for many here.

Why did it take 18 months? The DOJ needed all their ducks in a row, it is complicated because there are so many players. The noose has been tightened.

All the kings horses and all of their men will never put trump together again.

I figure that whoever decides to watch would like some information on what the video's about, LOL. And some prefer text to videos. Glenn Kirschner provides both.

And I've wondered the same thing, but figured that there were so many players involved. But the most important outcome has to be holding the chief insurrectionist who called the to the Capitol responsible!

Well, because the Department of Justice is not supposed to be chatty about investigations in progress. And, because the last DOJ was so cavalier about breaking every rule, Garland is probably being extra strict in order to restore confidence in the process.

Of course that results in asomewhat less national confidence in the integrity of the DOJ. But that will come, with good enough results to the prosecutions.

So it has been very, very quiet. But now the cork in the bottle has been breaached, other things are spilling out.

Several authoritative posts on DU have stated with absolute certainty that DOJ is doing nothing, that Garland is too wimpy and should be replaced.

And yes, he does speculate on what we can expect, but as a former U.S. prosecutor, he does have the background and experience - and explains it to the rest of us.

This already exists. Perhaps the author meant "more of a public outcry".

And, if the DOJ is gauging public opinion to decide who should, or shouldn't, be prosecuted (which is what the author is speculating), then a good number of people need to be fired.
