Democratic leadership should not sugar coat it or pretend there is a magic wand to reverse this terrible decision. But they need to articulate a plan to fight back. And right now that is shockingly absent, says Chris Hayes discussing the fallout of the reversal of Roe v. Wade. Aired on 06/27/2022.

(25,492 posts)What does Mr. Hayes suggest? It's kind of ironic that he mentioned a magic wand since that's basically what it would take at present to reverse it in full. Or a time machine.
The answer, as it has always been, is to get more Democrats elected at all levels of government. It took the GOP 50 years to accomplish this, yet people seem to believe that Democrats should have it fixed in less than a week. It's going to be a very difficult, very long-term project. In the meantime, find workarounds and work with what we can to provide access to as many women as possible.
But, simply put, the genie is out of the bottle. There is no quick fix, the protestations of many notwithstanding.
The answer is not to blame it on Democrats, though that always seems to be the answer from many, even here on DU.

(5,275 posts)This is a harsh result of evil minority rule. Of 30+ years of right wing media. Of a dastardly excuse for a human being getting elected by getting way fewer votes than HRC. Only in America.
We need radical action to make this a true Democracy but it isnt happening anytime soon.
The model to reach for is Scandinavia where the pie is shared much more fairly. Where they arent hampered by BS like our Electoral College and Senate Makeup.. If you get more votes you win.....what a marvel concept.
We have a fighting chance, maybe, due to the overreach of the Supreme Court, to start correcting things in 2024....maybe our last shot for a long time if we fail.

(1,759 posts)The problem is the presidency, the Senate, and the courts dont reflect the will of the majority of the people.
The root cause of the problem is the Framers unwarranted fear of the will of the people.
