Since her desk was right outside the Chief Of Staff office, sounds like she was right near the action

I'm not. Senior officials routinely rely on young aides whom they probably don't think much of.

He said he'd run in shooting - and didn't he also support arming teachers? Has TFG ever even picked up a gun, let alone trained in the use of one? Not to mention the impossibility of him "running in" anywhere...

But your point is well taken, seems like TFG had a lot of young staffers. From Mary Trump's book, I understand that there was a great deal of "turnover..."

Id be willing to bet that Trumps senior staff assumed that their young, inexperienced aides would just be loyal little drones and were otherwise too insignificant to keep a close eye on.
