Next term, our new Justice Jackson will see that the SCOTUS majority serve one of our two countries -- the one called Kochistan, where constitutional rights and human futures go to die.LakeArenal

(15,303 posts)That's why we need government and rules. I think "government" comes from the concept of limiting excess in a process (a governor.) That's what the free-market corporatist want to remove.

(36,099 posts)We need not just government and rules but accurate human history, comprehensive corporate history, and how corporate activity effects all class levels of political activity. Thom Hartmann, in Unequal Protection has made a good stab at how corporations have chipped away at equal constitutional protections and standing before the judiciary. Free-market corporatists might once have "wanted" to remove restraints of excess. But now, as Sheldon Whithouse recounts in Captured, we're being shoved through the door of fascism.
There's been such narrow framing of American history by design, and we have to blow that up.
A record of everything is as important as saving democracy, imo. Or we humans won't have lessons to apply to the future.

(36,099 posts)Whitehouse is priceless, isn't he?! I'd call him the MVP of the Senate.
He has at least 1.5 million views of his 15 presentations. Here's his latest about the plot to destroy the EPA while handily crippling Congress in the face of Big Fossil's designs on this government.
