Meaning he isn't outright taking over. . .but doing it through business deals and "cultural exchanges" and economics.

When people gain whiff of the end game, it will be too late and China will have a strong enough foothold in the region to do as it pleases. Ask Kenya when it pretty much sold its ports to China.

BTW, joint police training drill: From when I lived in China, did the Chinese police teach the SI police:

How to sleep in their squad cars without burning the car up with a lit cigarette?
How to wear wrinkled, stained, and faded uniforms with holes in them?
How to not enforce laws unless some government fat cat is showing up?
How to sleep in their police kiosks if they even bother to show up for work?
How to enforce the letter of the law on foreigners while letting locals who cause problems skate?
How to ignore the illegal actions of the elite, powerful, wealthy, and ruling party members?
