I listened to Keir Starmer speaking about Johnson and he really made it clear it was the entire Tory party that's a problem, not just BoJo.

What does standing for MP mean? He's seeking the position of an MP? Why is that considered a negative thing, or is it because he had promised he wouldn't while he held another position - once as editor of the Spectator and once as mayor of London?

It isn't an inherently negative thing. The problem is the publisher realized he was only using the job to increase his fame and notoriety to run for parliament.
