big misunderstanding of the classes of cattle being shipped due to drought and how they are processed. if anything it may lower prices a bit by late fall, but as of this week prices for cull cattle have remained fairly high. the herds being sold off are not normally meat animals they are breeding stock, mostly cows. if they aren't picked up and shipped to other parts of the country for continued production they will be processed mostly for hamburger and such. these are not the animals normally used for standard store cuts of meat, like steak and roasts.
