This has stood with me.

The RW gun nuts have invested thousands of $s in firearms - many in assault weapons and huge caches of ammunition.
Why? To shoot lots of elephants or squirrels?
No. To kill other Americans.

The gun threat is constant and instead of outlawing weapons of war for civilians - as they have been i other countries - they're not only refusing to outlaw them as more Americans die, they're campaigning on keeping them legal and threatening to use them!

it's not a stretch to take the perspective of insecure and angry people, groomed to feel an existential threat to their lives when their dear leader, who's done everything they wanted as president, says he didn't lose his re-election, that those cyber-savvy liberals somehow stole it and are covering it up. They do fear replacement of their white rule and culture, and they feel terrible.

I remember when we, too, totally lost it when Trump won. I cried, railed about those hellish, evil battleground states and Americans on FB, lost FB friends, and went into a funk for days.
What "they" -- who Nance says want to kill Americans -- have felt is similar and kind of goes like this:
If what Democrats win is what democracy's going to look like in their futures? after "all we put up with under Obama"? "Then fuck it, fuck democracy, we'll force this country to be what we want it to be, and just kill off the opposition.”

And they will if their leader isn't indicted as a criminal and stands before a jury.
Even if he is, he's still their guy, and they might be further incited to do to the 7 million what they wanted to do to "Pence the traitor” — set up vigilante “tribunals,” force us to “confess" our crimes, then to hang or summarily execute us.
They sincerely mean it. To them, that's their ethics and morality decision.

That’s their patriotism. We call it psychopathic.

And that's exactly what the lawless groups which carried out TFG's orders on January 6th are prepared to do - people died that day and they came prepared to kill Mike Pence if he didn't follow their orders - and that's what they're still prepared to do to those Americans who don't share their extreme beliefs and an America under minority rule.

That's why there are 20 million AR-15s out there. And only SWATs with warrants can use those.

So the choice for LEO's is being outgunned, or if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Even Capitol and DC Metro Police didn't think they'd be hurt. Until it was too late.

They are lawless. But in their eyes, and within the scope of their groomed vision, one man's killing is another man's existential self defense. In the meantime the unjust theocratic laws SCOTUS imposed on 51% of the country are now more to their liking. (But don't think "they" don't constantly threaten the cowed Republicans of the House and Senate along with SCOTUS. Those are features of what Nance calls insurgency).

We're in a two year period ahead where it's Rule of Law against Might Makes Right.
We'll find out which one prevails.

I'm hoping the DOJ's expansion of facilities and personnel right now isn't just for show.
