Take the song “Why don’t more women (sing honky tonk songs)” by Dolly Parton.

Re-write (“sing honky tonk songs” to “run for pol-i-tics”).
It would be catchy and promote a noble effort.

11. I listened.

As you either know, or have at least surmised, a parody only works with high familiarity with the song (or poem, or whatever) being parodied, and I have never heard that song before. It doesn't exclude the possibility, but I'll have to listen to it a few more times.

Another thing to consider is that despite being a Southerner, I am not overly familiar with C&W music. We have done a very little with it, as you can hear below:

That is about the extent of our attempts with C&W. You never know how they will connect. Act Naturally got less than 20,000 views, Stand With Your man and Ghost Donald got over 350,000 each.

We are currently working on several other songs, but I will see if any of the gang in Atlanta (where we record) know your Parton song. I don't know it yet, and you have to know it well enough to think up a set of lyrics that would do it justice.

Like I said, I'll try to get familiar with it. Maybe 10% of our collective ideas actually get done (we all have day jobs), but patience is a virtue, and as head lyricist, nothing gets sung if I don't write it. Still, it has to connect with all the boys and girls back in Atlanta, or they won't do it.
