Post Sandy in my neighborhood.

I still have no power and no heat. My family is at the library now trying to stay warm. My husband and son are watching a movie in the children's library. I just made this video of some pictures I took in my neighborhood, at our local park, and out at my Uncle Walter's house on the beach.

I just came back yesterday from my daughter's on LI. Just around the corner from her there were 40 foot trees totally uprooted. They did not just break. It looked like a TORNADO had hit the area because go just a street away and NOTHING happened. Not so much as a tree limb down and they kept their power the entire time.

I still keep wonder if tornados maybe be responsible for much of the damage. Nobody is saying anything about that.

I am on the coast in NC and have been through what you are going through now. It will get better. During one of the worst times I had I was told by someone much wiser than me that I needed to "Haul water and chop wood." It was meant as a metaphor. But sometimes is literally what has to be done to stay above the madness or the destruction and loss will break your heart. I wish the best to you and yours. LMSP

being crunched by trees. That is one of my nightmares. The high cost of living with beautiful trees surrounding your home.

I was very touched by the "free clothes" slide.

We had so many hurricanes come through in 2004 that our little subdivision lost all of the big deciduous trees. The HOA replaced them with more Palm trees. No more shady walks...sigh...

I've lived they in storms down here in the SE, it's not too bad... Trees will get removed and the power will come back. I know it takes a while... Bigger metro areas will get power back faster and the trees have to be off of roads and power lines before the power can get hooked up. And the house has to be safe to restore the power to as well.
