'This Is A Damning Letter': Attorney Baffled By Trump Team's Decision To Release Archives Letter

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell speaks to national security attorney Mark Zaid, former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner, and former U.S. Attorney Harry Litman about the decision by Donald Trump and his allies to release a letter they received from the National Archives that described the back and forth over the over 700 government documents that were taken to Mar-a-Lago at the end of Trump’s presidency. - The Last Word - MSNBC - Aired on 08/23/2022.

He's doing well! Continuing to do well. Glad he's still basically anchoring the lineup. calimary Aug 2022 #3
Yes, I agree. I still think that Rachel is excellent, but this makes Alex look like an also-ran Rhiannon12866 Aug 2022 #4

One of the best LD openings I have watched. He gets Trump's legal reality.

He had a hell of a legal guest lineup and I agree, they spelled it all out!

I am NOT liking the crazy-quilt nighttime programming on MSNBC.

I do NOT like the Rachel-on-Mondays and then the rest of the week is different.

Doesn't let Alex Wagner establish fully. Makes her still look like a fill-in. Not liking that, either.

Dammit, Rachel needs to COMMIT. Or blow it off. If she's determined to do one show a week, they'd be MUCH better off putting her on Saturday evenings and let her remake a "That Was the Week that Was" kind of extravaganza. Give her two hours to develop, her way, and bring in whoever she wants for special correspondents or commentators or whatever. Besides, she's good at spotting new talent.

And during the summer, there were so many substitute hosts that I lost track of which show I was watching! And what would they do without Ali Velshi?? He can step in anytime, anywhere and do a stellar job! He deserves some kind of award - especially for that series he did from the Ukraine border!

They’re counting on illiteracy and their corporate media to make this a nothingburger.

That either "executive privilege" (which he no loner has) or his lawyers (who are out of their depth) will "protect" him. He's gotten away with so much (or he wouldn't have been impeached twice!) but this time his cronies aren't there to defend him, and we have a new (non TFG appointed) DOJ!

!! National Archives letter to Trump attorney, May 10, 2022.

First note what's missing from the exchanges

ANY CLAIM by Trump's side that he'd declassified the materials.
