(5,560 posts)He's got his old best buddies and his new best friends
And all the girls give him the eye
He's a good time Charlie and the life of the party tonight
But when I think about another well I don't think twice
'Cause there'll never be another like him
I know he really loves me and I think maybe mama was right
You got to dance with the one that brought you

(21,672 posts)Her goal (besides climbing the career ladder) is to import the lawfare that's beset many Latin American courts over the past decade or so - mainly against left-wing opponents.
Latin Lawfare is a direct holdover from the Inquisition that reigned supreme in the region's colonial-era countries.
We accuse you - and that's all it takes.
Or, conversely, we clear you - and you're home free (no matter what the crime).

(21,672 posts)Latin America is known for its kangaroo courts, as you know.
They made some progress in that regard after emerging from the fascist dictatorship era of the '70s and '80s - but over the past decade, there's been serious backsliding.
Much of that recent trend had to do with the elites' reaction to the 'Pink Tide' of progressive governments from 2003-15, roughly.
"If we can't beat'em - jail'em!"
Cannon is very much in that spirit: arbitrary, and shameless as hell.
That's why Cheeto made sure to shove her into the Palm Beach district - where, of course, Mar-a-Loco is.

(16,254 posts)She is awfully young to lose her license. After all the comments made about her inability to write a competent ruling on this case, who'd agree with any decision she'd make in the future?
I'd say any deal she made with the devil will haunt her for years to come.

(16,093 posts)But, she did this on purpose...this decision will not haunt her...it'll make her even more popular within the ranks of the Fascist, I mean Federalist Society!

(18,648 posts)It seems at every turn a new lawyer I've never heard of steps in and manages to prolong the legal process, and make no mistake, it's just a delay. However, if Republicans can gain control of the House a delay may be all he needs. I would expect repubs to drop the investigation and refocus the congress on impeaching Joe Biden for "high crimes" and investigating Nancy Pelosi.
While they're at it, they'll probably go after Hillary again just because.

(593 posts)They could dismantle the J6 committee but the DOJ is already on the case and they have 2 more years to get it done. No way will they have the power in the senate to convict any impeachments.
Everything is on Garland to save our democracy if the voters cant do so.

(2,541 posts)They have weaponized the judicial system and rely heavily on the justice systems inherent trust built into the system of blind justice.
There needs to be heavy penalties of the obvious twisting/contorting of mental hold hoops this judge went thru to make her ruling appear wise and un bias when it is nothing but a bias ruling for DT.

(6,254 posts)her for local traffic court. In her early 30s WTF! No shame republicans. If Dems win mid-terms and dont radically change the things they can then we are finished as a country. The federal court was always the last safeguard from for resisting tyrants and now we have 30 something fed.dist.judges and a Christian nationalist dominated SCOTUS that is dangerously out of touch with the majority of Americans.

We have no idea when she got to the US and no idea if she is even an American citizen. Citizenship is not a requirement for the bench.

(1,296 posts)Hasn't Trump said that same thing many, many times since 2015? He thinks it's proof.
I know no one cares what I think, but here it is: I don't like this conjecture.
Just my two cents. Take it or leave it.
PS Even so, that's very clever, Earl.

(6,423 posts)I'm laughing at (R) and this cover up attempt, apparently as long as enough voters are (R) only, any jackass can be president.
But nuclear secrets out in the open is a bridge way too far.
